Need help with picking monitor.

I have finished picking my parts for a new rig and I am ordering them in a few days and I have been searching for monitors. First here are my goodies:
CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K
Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H
RAM - Kingston HyperX Black 16GB (2 x 8GB)
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 690
PSU – SeaSonic X-SERIES x-1050W
CPU Cooling - Noctua NH-D14
Case - COOLER MASTER HAF X Blue Edition
Optical Drive - SATA DVD-RW
Storage - 2TB Western Digital Caviar Black & Crucial M4 256GB SSD
OS - Windows 7 Pro

I am looking for a 23-25 inch monitor that does full 1080p. I was doing some searching and started looking at reviews of the BenQ xl2411t but the found that that was not released in the US yet so I need a new choice and time is of the essence here. My favorite feature of the xl24 was the (correct me if I'm wrong) black equalizer which I thought was awesome because I love doing night ops on military sims. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a limited budget for the monitor ? You have gone all out so it seems on your build , it would be a shame to cheap out on the monitor especially since you have a GTX 690 video card. At the very least you should be looking at 2560x1440.
I put two GTX 680's in my build and went with a 30" HP with 2560x1600 resolution.

I actually don't know anything about monitors. I googled and was under the impression to look for full 1080p monitors. As for the budget, I unfortunately spent most of the planned budget on the pc itself and only have around $400 dollars for a monitor. I was hoping that that would be enough for two monitors but I guess I'll have to settle for one until later on. The second monitor will not be for gaming though. It will be used mostly when I am programming, rendering, and editing.

I would go with this monitor as it has a goo refresh rate of 2 ms and would be good for gaming. Samsung is known for making good computer monitors and if they still made thier 30' monitor I would have bought one instead of this HP.

Also I am quite limited on space on my current desk. It is 4ft long with a TV on the side of it already

Ok, I have almost chosen but I have one final question. I just watched a video of someone playing a game on a 1440p monitor and it looked crazy beautiful. Is there much of a difference between recording on 1080p and 1440p because I record most of my stuff for later review and post some on YouTube. Would there be a difference if someone was watching on a 1080p monitor and I was recording of a 1440p. I only ask because I saw BigMack's post that I failed to see earlier.

He is correct in that with a GTX 690 you have the horsepower to run any monitor that you choose to buy. The new monitors coming out now are featuring the 2560x1440 resolution and I don't know if they have that resolution in a monitor less than 27".
I have two GTX 680's and I went with a 30" monitor running 2560x1600 and I won't be going back to 1920x1080 , gaming is flat out amazing on this monitor and is massivly enjoyable.
What you can consider is a 1920x1080 monitor that is 24" and has a 120hz refresh rate.

Unfortunately I only have around $600 for a monitor because that is what I have left to spend and it sounds like I would enjoy gaming more on a 1440p. That 27" is out of the price range but I did just find this one:

It is closer to my price range but once again I do not know much when it comes to monitors. Is there anything wrong with it and what makes the one you showed me more expensive?

Probably the name (Samsung) Believe it or not you do pay for the name on some parts and also there may be some added features that wouldn't make a difference to gaming.
The Asus monitor you listed is a good find and you should go with it.
