So i am in the midst of upgrading my pc, i have so far bought an AMD FX 6300 cpu and an ASRock 970 mobo. i am going to buy a new graphics car as well and was thinking of the Gigabyte R9 280 Overclocked 3gb which should run ok with a 650w psu but my power supply (Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 650w) i have read is not a very good power supply, so i was just wondering if my current psu would survive running my new gear for 2 weeks until i can afford to upgrade it?

That power supply should alarm you. No Over Current Protection. No Active PFC Circuit. If you draw more than 432W off your 12v rail, you'll fry the Toshiba switching transistors. The fact that it has 2 - tiny 12v rails should raise flags, the fact that the 12v rails can't put out the full wattage should be alarming.

It has listed 3 of the 7 protections you should look for in a power supply (and 1 more present but curiously unlisted). It's a terrible rebadge of a terrible Seventeam power supply.

Your CPU pulls 145-150W stock. Your Graphics card (when not overclocked) pulls 305W. Do not use intensive games. Your power supply will die.
