Hi,

I've tried searching for an answer and can't find anything. I'm using the B250 mining expert and was wondering what the best way is to power 7 GPU's in the first (A) section of the motherboard? I'm not sure what the safest route is? Should I use a good 1200 to 1600 watt PSU and use splitters for all the PCIe connectors or could I somehow use 2 PSU to have enough connectors? I've read that SATA is not safe for the risers and I should use PCIe connectors for them. However, any good rated PSU won't have enough to cover it all. Using a bunch of splitters seems dangerous to me, and I'm just wondering if there is a safer way of going about this.

Solution
Yes there is a safer way.

Start with:

And:

(Just as examples: not suggesting or recommending any particular calculator or product.)

However, you must also read the applicable installation documentation for all mining rig components.

Especially motherboard, GPU(s), and PSUs.

Physically numbered Page 1-2 discusses power requirements. and references a power calculator link.

Very likely there are multiple caveats and fine print details that cover power requirements and safety.

Details matter.

Be careful about where you purchase cables, splitters, adapters, etc. Some (even if described as compatible, " in compliance with", etc.) are likely to be of very poor quality.

Plan out the build, make a simple sketch to show the build, the components, and connections. Then post for comment. List the hardware specs.

Read PSU reviews. All too easy for manufacturers to claim or state that a PSU is "suitable", "intended", or "dedicated" for mining purposes.
