Hi, doing this for a friend and I'm basing it on what I have read online. I have a bit of knowledge about putting PC's together but not up with the latest performance v price. I put 2 selections together and would appreciate any feedback for advise. The first is the AMD and $200+ cheaper than the Intel, but from what I've read the Intel is much better. Are the system comparable in performance if it's for multitasking (10 apps all open at the same time)/media/graphics etc.

1st the AMD CPU
cpu AMD x8 FX-8350
motherboard Sabertooth-990FX
memory 16G Kit 1866(8Gx2) G.Skill Sniper
video 2G 7870 Asus
dvd SATA Blu-Ray Combo LG
power supply Thermaltake ToughPower 80Plus Gold 850w
case Fractal Design ARC R2 USB3.0
ssd drive OCZ Vertex4 SATA3 256G
hdd Hitachi Deskstar SATA3 7200rpm

2nd the Intel CPU
cpu Intel i7-3770K
motherboard Asus Sabertooth-Z77
memory 16G Kit 1866(8Gx2) G.Skill Sniper
video 2G 7870 Asus
dvd SATA Blu-Ray Combo LG
power supply Thermaltake ToughPower 80Plus Gold 850w
case Fractal Design ARC R2 USB3.0
ssd drive OCZ Vertex4 SATA3 256G
hdd Hitachi Deskstar SATA3 7200rpm

Thanks in advance.

We need to know exactly what your friend wants to do with it. What programs do they want to use? What games? What resolution? etc. My first impressions are I don't like the psu or the hard drive in either build. The motherboards in both are too expensive. Do you really want bluray? 1866 RAM is pointless, stick to 1600.

Give us a budet and answer those questions and we will help you out. I don't like either build.

Well he creates a lot of business documents, very graphical, some saved as pdf's are 150mb in size. He's constantly using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, word and excel, then jumping to this outlook with a pst of 6gb's, then having 10 IE tabs going and conferencing through Skype. All at the same time and the i7 he has is just dead in the water. The resolution is as high as you an get it, but I think the 2 x monitors are 1900x1080. The bluray, I haven't a clue, I just thought that was better because my blueray at home upscales the dvd's. The budget is about $1500 for the box. Thanks for your help.

Also, the psu I only choose because I bought a 600w one, then a video card for my PC and then found out I had to get a different psu to run the cards. I was just thinking that high end might come with all the bells and whistles, really have no idea. The HDD and the case were chosen because they said they were quite and if the box got hot the additional fans would cool it sufficiently. Hope this is an OK explanation.
