Question Need help with specs that will increase performance

Hello,

I could use some help with hardware selection for a new build.

Existing System:

• Intel Core i7-8086K
• ASUS PRIME Z370-A
• G-Skill 2133 (8x4)
• MSI RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO
• EVGA 750 GQ 80+ Gold
• Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB

Looking at UserBenchmark the statistics for this build don't appear to be terrible, but I am seeing performance issues with new gaming titles and with 3d rendering. What I am not sure about is how much of a jump I need to make to actually see a performance boost. Any insight would be helpful as I don't want to jump up 2% or something based on benchmark results with a new system if possible.

If you update your BIOS to at least version 1803, you can replace your i7-8086K with a 9th generation i7 or i9. Your 2133 RAM is relatively slow. I suggest at least 3200 RAM.

By the way, your PSU has a 5 year warranty.

Get the proper bios and drivers.

Clean out unneeded crud from the disk.

Don't run unneeded background stuff.

Cost?.....free.

Now run your stuff and see what's busy.

Thank you @rickypicky5 and @Bob.B, I did all of the clean up (can't defrag the SSD obviously) but I'm going to upgrade the memory. Appreciate it!
