Need help with triple monitor for gaming: Actual physical connections help

I currently have 2 7870's in Crossfire.

I got to thinking that triple monitors is going to be hard on the 7870's, so I was thinking of upgrading to the GTX 780 ti....

My question is, how do the cables go? The listed ports are: DVI-I, DVI-D(?), HDMI and 1 display port.

Do you go one cable for DVI-I, then one for DVI-D, then HDMI?

You don't need that strong of a cable to provide a good clear signal to a monitor that is only 1080p and under 120hz so doing dvi-i dvi-d and then hdmi will work perfectly fine since neither of them will cause problems with your monitors.

Yep, the signal required for that speed and resolution isn't really all that much. Yes a display port would be the fastest but that setup should be just fine. The main difference between dvi-i and dvi-d Is dvi-i can carry out digital and analog signals, where dvi-d only can carry out digital. But for your setup you will have no problem using hdmi or the dvi-i or d connectors

Awesome..thanks for explaining...Now.. your thoughts on 7870's vs a single GTX 780ti? I kinda do want to spend the money, but willing. Games I play are Planetside and Mechwarrior Online for the most part.. Some Rust etc....

I think with 2 7870's you would run into memory problems with 3 monitors while gaming. So the 780ti would give you a lot of benefit for that. I use two of the 780 ti's for my personal setup and they work amazing. I did use one for a while until my 2nd came. But if you have the money I would go for the 780ti because I have heard people saying they went from a gtx 660 sli which is kind of neck to neck with the 7870 in crossfire and they said they never looked back thinking it was a bad choice. So the 3gigs of video memory will help you. you probably could get back like $280 if you sold them both maybe $300 if they bid high enough
