Need help with upgrades

So I bought a prebuilt system from Lenovo and it came with a AMD A10-7800 APU which i upgraded by added a gtx 750 to the system. It has 12gb of ddr3 ram but the power supply is bad with only 170 watts. I want to know what to upgrade to. I want to buy a new motherboard and get a i3-7100 with a gtx 1050 ti but i also need another PSU. Would i need to upgrade my ram with that too... cause if so i may just build an entire new system 🙁

Yes you will need new DDR4 RAM if you want a new CPU and motherboard. I would encourage you to do what you suggested, build a new system. Let us know your budget and we can help you out.

For instance, the i3-7100 is really not at a good price point. It's basically the same as a Pentium G4560 being a dual-core w/ hyper-threading. The newest 8th-gen i3-8100 is a true quad-core. Only thing is the cheaper motherboards aren't released yet so you'd have to go with a more expensive Z370 motherboard.

unfortunately yes

your system is pretty old, going with a new gen CPUs like i3 7100 would require a whole new system [new mobo, new PSU, new RAM (DDR4), and also u might need a fresh OS]

if u're tight on budget, change the PSU first and u should be able to use the system safely till u had enough money to upgrade the whole system
