Im planning to upgrade my GTX 960 i5 6400 16gb ram to a GTX 1080 everyone on forums and reddit r/bulidapc said its fine and it will work great but only 1 person said it will bottleneck a bit what do you think there is no reason for me to buy 1070 which is 40eur cheaper and 1060 80cheaper with like half of the performance.

It'll be fine for now, next upgrade (if you can find one for cheap) is a 6700(K) or 7700(K) with updated BIOS.

Actually if your gaming at 1080P I'd utilize Nvidia DSR and run a 2X or 4X upscale which will make your games look smoother and utilize your GPU more.

How much you spend should depend on what you expect to accomplish. The 960 is sort of like a 1050 Ti, decent enough as an entry level card, but your CPU can benefit from something better.

A 1060 6gb card would be an ideal 1080p 60fps card. So if that's what you want, that's all the card you need.

A 1070 or 1080 would allow you to run higher resolutions, or higher framerates if you wanted to use a high refresh rate monitor.
