My current video card overheats. I'm using
core 2 duo 2.33
2gb memory
NVIDIA geforce 8600 GTS

all the fan temperature programms are saying it overheats up t0 100 с

I don't play a lot of games, it happens with Lotro and Mass effect 2. I'm not planning to play games like Crysis or smth

So my question is: should I get another card like gts 250 or HD 4850 or I can just change fan on the card? or I can get even lower card?

Any help would be great, thank you

Well 8600GTS is a low-end card for gaming but if you want to keep it,then download rivatuner and tweak the fan speed.
However,i would recommend getting a better card like HD 5770
BTW,what's your PSU ?

I actually did rivatuner thing and it seems to be at 100% or I'm doing smth wrong...

HD 5770 looks good, although I would love to stay at $100-130 range since gaming is not a big issue for me, just a couple of hours not each day.
My PSU is 400w foxconn

I would suggest a 5670 then honestly. It should be able to play both of those games quite well, and should work with your PSU.

The 8600GTS is an older card. Chances are if its running hot the cooling system is simply clogged with dust. Try shutting your system down and pull the card. Use a can of air to blow the dust out.

If removing the dust didn't help, I suggest one last try before buying a new one: dis-assemble the card, remove the thermal paste and apply a new layer. You can use AS5 or Zalman STG.
