I Have purchased HP 15Boo2TX laptop with Windows 8 pre installed. As the performance was sluggish i downgraded the same to windows 7. deleting all backup files and HDD. Now i want to get windows 8(as i want to upgrade the same to windows 10). I downloaded an windows 8 iso and tried to install it but it says that the key is not matching with this version of windows. Kindly help.

I Want to know which version of Windows 8 was installed on my laptop..and from where I can download the same.

As far as I know there is no official Win 8 iso download from MS that works with OEM keys.

However, the media creation tool for Win 8.1 will work with OEM keys:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

You need to you choose the correct edition (you may need to try a few of them if you don't know which edition you're licensed for). I would try the regular edition (simply "Windows 8.1") or the Single Language edition if that doesn't work.

For more details, see this great writeup:

Once you have Win 8.1 installed and updates applied you should then be able to upgrade to Win 10. Warning: do not do a clean install of Win 10 right away, you need to do an upgrade and wait for it to activate before you do a clean reinstall.

Best option when trying to find out which one was installed just ask the people who built your laptop or pc. eventhough my support with gateway is over i was able to get that much information and i installed windows 8 easily and then upgraded to windows 8.1
Make sure to get the information regarding if it was 64 version and 32bit
