I have been trying to set up the Remote Assistance on my computer to work
with a fellow MVP on a special Access database project.
I have set up all the necessary Windows Firewall and Remote Assistance
details as described in the KB306800, and other suggestions, and with the
router. However, I am still unable to get a connection with the user on the

is now assigned to the Remote Desktop assistance, which I do not want to
use, as I can't see what they are doing and this is somewhat of a training
exercise as well. So, is there any way to change this port assignment, or
can I use an alternative port? Could a program such as SpyBot S&D, AdAware,
SpywareBlaster or F-Prot the paid version, or MSAS have any setting that
might block it? Do I need to sign into MSN Messenger first? I don't use
Yahoo toolbar, or have the Comapnion, or Google toolbar, and none of the
other 3rd party junk.
I know of all the risks, and have taken precautions on both the router and
PC end. I am in hopes that someone will be able to advise me of what/where
I might look for other avenues that may be creating a block to the
connection, or perhaps how I can reset some of the settings to allow for a
