I have my old gaming computer that i want to put more storage in and just found out it has a nvme slot. so now i have a question on it.

It says its a " 1 x Ultra M.2 Socket, supports M Key M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s)".

My motherboard is a asrock x99killer, https://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/fatal1ty x99x killer/, and i want to get a samsung 980 nvme.

I was wondering if that 32gb/s means that it will support up to something that can read or write 32gb or if it will only support a 32 gb capacity nvme ? Also would my motherboard take an nvme thats the size of the samsung 980 or do i need to get something shorter? Thanks for any help just wanna make sure im not buying a 1tb nvme for no reason

This. The specs literally do say 32 Gb per second.

Also, i see no issue why you can't put 1TB or higher capacity NVMe drive onto your MoBo. Though, older MoBos, especially those that started to include M.2 SSD slot, may have a clause where you can't boot from that M.2 NVMe drive, only use it as storage drive. Clarification is written in the holy bible of PCs (MoBo manual).

It should accept a full length ssd....2280 or shorter.
