Need help!!!

I am using Verizon DSL with a Westell 2200 modem.When I give my IP address to Friends so they can connect to me, They can't get in. I used to have comcast Cable and there was no problem,But I moved and Cable is not available where I live now.sorry about the newbie question,But I need help!My friend said this was the place to get it. My os is winxp home.I'm using a ethernet card.

not enough info in your post to help but...

Look at how you are being firewalled. Does verison provide a firewall for you? if so I highly recomend getting your own firewall for $50 and disabling theirs, also windows firewall support causes problems so once you get your own firewall this can be disabled.

I preach Linksys for firewalls, they are cheap and easy to configure.
