Is everything working when the system is plugged in and turned on? If all you are wondering why the system fans turns on with no power, try holding in the power button for about 30 seconds with the system unplugged. Leave it sitting for a couple of hours, plug in the cable and see what happens. Are you connecting the cable from a TV or from a monitor? Is that plugged in? Try it with the screen also unplugged from power.
