I have a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz system with a gig of ram and an ATI 9800 Pro
video card. I am considering upgrading my video card. I am looking for some
input as to an ATI 800/850 series or and NVIDIA 6800. I play Half Life 2,
Doom 3 and Far Cry.

Will I see a remarkable improvement over my Radeon 9800 Pro with either of
these other cards?

I went from the 9800 Pro to the BFG 6800 OC. Huge difference in graphics
quality and smoothness - even with AA on etc. All the games including FarCry
and Doom 3 have the graphics settings to the highest.
You can use a program like RivaTuner to unlock the disabled 4 pipelines in
the 6800 OC.
