I am planning on upgrading my graphics card so I need a good power supply to back it up. At least 400W at a budget of $30(ish). I want it to last long as well. Here is the system:

AMD Phenom II Quad-core 2.8Ghz
8GB DDR2
640GB SATA
NVIDIA Geforce 9600GT

The recomended watts for the system (minus the 9600GT) is 350W, the card's minimum is 400W

thanks

The words "cheap" and "quality" turn that sentence into an oxymoron. There's no such thing. You are not going to find a good 400 watt PSU for $30. Double that and maybe find something on sale.

The 500W Antec is too expensive for my budget right now... Do you think I would be better with a quality 400W PSU than a so-so 500W?

you would be, the 430 W i linked is a great buy atm since you get 20 dollars off and free shipping in us, and it is definitely a great one to buy (even if it looks bland)

what i meant is that the 430 w should be similar to the 500 in terms of noise and efficiency, so the quality of power would be the same, the load will not be tho

Can't really use this, not because it's for the 500, but because Antec changed oem's and now use's Delta for both the 430 and 500 watt units.
By all accounts the quality and reliability hasn't suffered, but the new revisions are slightly different.

o blah, they changed it?

well delta makes some nice server class stuff so its not as if they are going with superflower or something

I got a great used 500watt OCZ PSU off of ebay for $30 free S&H. :D

You're not likely to find to many people here who would agree with that statement.
Raidmax power supplies have been the stars of several "exploding psu " video's.

lets think of it this way, if you see that brand of psu bundled with 50 dollar cases, then chances are its crap, if you see that brand with 300 or 400 dollar cases, then it would be safter to assume that it is okay (safe, not exact since the Cooler master above has too high of a noise, acceptable under the spec, unacceptable for a good brand psu)

that or they are not included in cases and are well known. but that part is the hard part lolz
