Hi All,

I am finally going to replace my old clunker with a new custom built rig. I am currently run my entire life (work and play) with my computer...MS Office, QuickBooks, Video Editing (Adobe Premiere), Windows Media Center (w/Ceton Tuner), MyMovies, and heavy gaming. I would love to get recommendations on a new Mobo, i7 Processor, Graphic Card that can more than adequately handle the load. Time is money to me, so the less I have to wait for my rig to respond to even simple things like rendering the better I'm willing to spend the bucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Do I really need to embrass myself? You're gonna laugh, but I currently run a Dell OptiPlex 745, Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz, with 8GB of RAM, and SSD drive to keep day to day tasks not so sluggish. I'm in the stone ages here, and def need an upgrade!

Let us start from what you need.

PROCESSOR:
You need a processor for intense rendering. A 6 core will give you alot of benefits on rendering + hyperthreading.

MOBO:
Aside from a new release chip. Still the same chipset. This board from ASUS. Is one of the best board from a x79 platform. With high quality components and 5 year warranty backup.

RAM:
Aside from the processor that gives you power. This serves also a support to that processor. The more Ram you have. The more Faster is rendering is, and you can use this 32 gig memory of the ram for RAMDisk.

SSD and HD:
We all know ssd the best for fast boot and alot of stuff. Ssd has many times better than HD on read and write times. But lack of storage. Then the HD comes for Mass Storage.

GPU:
Cuda is used for some programs. Maybe also you will find it to use. And you can also game with this gpus.

CASE:
Midtower that can house this components. And one of the best case for the money there is.

PSU:
This psu is reliable and can LAST long. This psu is made by Seasonic. Which is one of the reputable and HIGH QUALITY Brand.

AND UPDATE THE BIOS OF THE MOTHERBOARD FIRST, SO YOU WONT HAVE ANY ISSUES AND PROBLEMS :)

I fully agree with this build, however the only change that I would make would be to go with a single Titan rather than SLI 780s and to spend the extra money on some faster RAM, I'd say shoot for some 2133Mhz at CAS 10.

Dude. Titan is not worth the price to performace ratio. And 2 780 will give you more cuda cores. And that can help you alot. Saw alot of guys use this for game dev and 3d animation than a titan.

Titan is not worth of price to performance ratio. 2 780 will have more cuda cores. And i think its better than a titan (even a single 780)

A 780 is a 5-10% less performance than a titan. Op

And or he can just overclock the RAM to 2133mhz?

X79 is a platform for Intel's Extreme Processors (LGA 2011)

LGA 2011 is better than LGA 1150 or 1155

Because its supports upto 64 GB of Ram than 32 GB of Ram from a LGA 1150 or 1155.

And it has more cache and better Soldering (the thermal paste between the actual chip and the shield)

Thanks Genzo...was looking around at Asus x79's...and noticed they released a new mobo...the X79-Deluxe.

Is this board better than the Sabretooth? Only $25 more.
