Need Monitor Recommendations

I'm still using a HP 2311X 23" monitor I got back in 2011. It has gone through the standard Walmart computer that came with it and through two custom built computers. I'm in need of an upgrade.

I have a GTX 970 and an i7 CPU.

I mainly play ESO, but I also play games like AOEII, Witcher 3, LoL. May pick up some FPS game, but nothing too serious compared to MMOs.

I have about a $200 budget, though I would happily keep the price down if possible.


I currently have my eyes on:

27" - 60Hz
ASUS VE278Q @ 181.25
ACER G277HL @ 170.94

24" - 144Hz
ACER GN246HL @ 179.99
AOC G2460PF @ 199.99


Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I suggest either of these but the AOC may be the best for gaming.

Well, I've seen others say that if you're not playing "competitive FPS" that you really don't need 144Hz. I can obviously see that no matter which one I pick that it'll blow my current one out of the water, so what I'm really looking for is the best visuals for the money.

Would getting one of the 144Hz monitors at 24" be the better option than a 60Hz at 27"? I get 40-60FPS in raids and 80+ in world, so I was thinking I really wouldn't be able to take advantage of 144Hz unless I'm playing RTS or the infrequent LoL match.

In that case I would suggest the ASUS VE278Q because it supports upto 85hz. The Acer is the slower 60hz so skip it.
