need more help on OC my old PIII

hey guys since my last thread sorta died so i though to start up another one, still in the CPU forum because the OC forum is not active enough for me to get answers lol...
so my current situtation is this: i have already OCed an PIIIe 550MHZ (100*5.5) to 733 by upping the FSB in my Soyo SY-6VBA 133 mobo and obtained 700 some mb of PC133 ram and i tried to turn up the mulplier in the bios and that it did not work so i though that this cpu must have a locked mulplier so that i though i could trick the cpu into giving me more mulplier options by using the speical jumpers that they mentioned in the updated manual that tells the cpu it is running on 66 FSB instead of 133FSB and perhaps unlock some more mulplier thingys, now my question is should i unOC my cpu to a 100 FSB then do this or could i just do it now and if i have to unOC then is upping the FSB gona get me more milage or upping the mulplier better?

You cannot unlock a PIII. All PIII's are locked except for engineering samples. Your 5.5x multiplier is there forever, no matter what you do.

the cele's were easier to overclock becuase of the low fsb and high multiplier

Not really, the PIII 700E went to 933EB fairly well. Any Celeron from 800 up had a 100MHz bus, so your Celeron choices were limitted. For Coppermine Celerons:

533 at 100 was 800, a chancy overclock.
566 at 100 was 850, a chancy overclock
600 at 100 was 900, a difficult overclock
633 at 100 was 950, a VERY difficult overclock
667 at 100 was 1000, a VERY difficult overclock
700 at 100 was 1050, extremely difficult
733 at 100 was 1100, nearly impossible
766 at 100 was 1150, this is beyond the point where Intel had the PIII 1.13 problem.

So really there were only a couple that gave you even a reasonable chance of reaching the next bus speed.

For the 100 bus Coppermine Celerons:

800 at 133 was 1066, possible with some cores
850 at 133 was 1133, the level where even Intel had problems.
etc.

Then there were the Tualatin Celerons, the 1000 and 1100 were easy to get 133 bus from, but the 1200 was chancy, the 1300 very unlikely, and the 1400 nearly impossible.

um ok, so i should not use the tell the cpu it is running 66 fsb while its on 133 fsb thingy?

No. Your only option for increasing the clockspeed is increased FSB.

You can tell the chip whatever you like. The multiplier will only do 5.5

Celeron 667/66 -> 1000/100 - i have a chip (Coppermine Celeron 667mhz - SL4NZ) that does that on a cheap PCPartner i815 motherboard without ANY more VCore, 100% solid.

Celeron 1100/100 -> 1466/133 - i also got one that does that again without any vcore adjustments and also with a cheap Jetway board, but sometimes on power up (every few weeks) wont load xp but if i restart it it works and remains working the whole time.

Its the luck of the draw - i have 2 tualatin celerons spare (2 matching 1200 celerons) aswell as about 10 coppermine celeron/P3's, and about 8 mendocino celerons and i must say i have had no luck with mendocino's - only 2 go from FSB 66 to 100, one a 333 celeron to 500 unstable on a BH6, and a 300A at 450 2.1v.

So overclocking the 700 - Normal overclocking for coppermine celerons (180nm) - any overclock below 1ghz should be easy, FSB66 -> 100 is easy for all models below the celeron 667 (harder for the celeron 700 - 766 and beyond), the FSB100 models dont overclock so well - there already close to their max. Slower P3's with FSB100 overclocking to under 1ghz should also be easy especially with any vcore adjusments. Overclocking any FSB133 processors (P3 EB's) is more difficult - SDR and the chipsets dont seem to like going too far (most of the time past FSB140 is tough - my 600 and 667EB dont like it).

I have a lot of experience here. For over half the life of the Coppermine core, most cores crapped out around 980MHz. A little past half-way into production they got better yields, and overclocking got better too.

hmm anyway to mod this thing to unlock it or is it too complicated because of the enclosed stuff not just like connect two pins together?

People have tried everything only to find nothing works. Well, I'm not really certain if they've tried moving the resistors around on the underside, I have a photo comparing the underside of an Engineering Sample to a retail processor.
