Need more storage, thinking of switching smaller drive for a bigger one

Hi all,

I have a 500gb HDD that is a secondary drive with all of my games and large files on it. It only has about 45gb available. I was thinking that I'd switch it out with a 1-1.5tb drive, and keep the same drive letter, file paths etc. Then, I'd wipe the 500gb one and stick it back in as a small backup drive. Would this kind of thing work, or would it somehow mess up game installations or the system's knowledge of my hard drives?

Thanks!

The best thing to do is get a 1 to 2 TB hhd and clone your 500gb drive on to it and replace it with the new drive and keep it in case anything happen to the new drive. You'll be able to clone it again. Reloading everything is a pain.

Sounds like it would work just as I want it to, what is the best way to clone the drive?
