I'm looking to put together a new desktop for general everyday use, movie watching and moderate gaming that'll be attached to a pair of 1920x1200 monitors (Dell U2412M). I'm more or less a novice at this, and I've put together an initial build list below on which I'm now welcoming more expert advice. I should point out that I live in Canada, the land of stupidly higher prices. Ideally, I wanted to build something closer to $1000 but this kind of got away from me. If nothing stands out as horrible, some specific things I'm wondering about right now (other than "when will my current computer explode and kill me") include:

1. Is the PSU overkill? Should I drop to a 550?
2. The room it'll be in gets really hot in the summer. Should I consider more case fans than the ones included with the 350D?
3. Are there any better alternatives out there I've overlooked in the same or cheaper price range? Does anything seem like a poor choice or a waste?

I have zero interest in overclocking, so keep that in mind if you're going to recommend a different CPU/mobo. ATX vs mATX (and so the case, too) is also possibly still undecided, but I've been steadily warming to the idea of a smaller PC for once even if it means higher noise levels (I'm used to having super heavy, quiet cases).

Okay, I'm going to tweak some stuff and I'll be back. I agree, though: i5 is as low as I'd like to go.

I might also test a couple of builds on the US site for pricing and just drive them across the border myself if it's worth it. Thanks for your help!
