I made my PC last year and decided to go crazy and buy the OCer's delight, SLK-800 With the Monster Vornado Fan. Well needless to say my computer ran just fine for me and no need to OC. Well I thought I had gotten used to the fan, but I haven't it's just so darn loud. In other words, I am looking for a good fan that is quiet (very quiet) and will keep my PC running nicely. Im running a XP 2600+ w/ 333 and an Asus A7N8X mobo.

I use adjustable 80mm Enermax fans for my case, really quiet too. I've had two for over a year now, and they're still going strong even though all my other fans suffer from dust & power problems. They're not the best, but they're probably somewhere up there :).

For me anyways, a 9 out of 10. The only problem I have with them is the flimsy adjustable knob.

Oh baby yeah.

I use Panaflow fans, they are quiet, perform well, and last nearly forever.

Not case fans, but rather the fan that goes ontop of the heatsink. Maybe its the same thing, dont know if im understanding you correctly.

Yea, since you mentioned that you were using the SLK-800, you should be able to slap on almost any 80mm fan on top of it.

Oh baby yeah.

Take a needle nose piler, Turn off your system and remove the power cord. Now remove black wire from your Tornado fan and connect it to with a red wire at your PSU, then do the same to the red wire on your fan, connected it with a yellow cable. Use black electrician tape and wrap the darn thing up. connect your power cord to system, boot up, and now remember report us how much quieter and how much hotter your CPU temps are. Congraduation, you just did a 7v mod on your fan.

the TMD fans are made by Y.S. tech. However they only come in 70mm or was it 72mm can't remember exactly.

-Intel PIV 2.6C @ 3.575G -Asus P4P800 -OCZ Copper 2x256 4000EL memory @ 275mhz 3-4-4-8 -Sapphire 9800np @ 432/760 -SB audigy -120G Maxtor Diamond Plus9 S-ATA150 hdd -450 Enermax PSU

another good solution is to mount a 120mm fan either in the side-panel (aboce the heatsink) or from a Zalman-type bracket so that the fan sits nice above the heatsink (so you avoid the vibrations from the fan) but then take advantage of the cfm and low dbs of a large, slow rpm fan (such as a panaflo or even the vantec stealth - ~25db)
