Question Need new internal hard disk. How to choose?

Hello everybody.

Apparently my Hard disk has bene failing recently and I'm looking to buy a new one. Do I need to take into consideration other components of my pc? Such as what kind of RAM I use? I don't really know where to start. All I know is that 7200 RPM is usually a good choice.

Other parts shouldn't affect your HDD choice. WD Blue drives are good as well as Seagate Barracuda drives.

Your welcome! As for which drive either of those are fine but if you have files that are important just make sure to have some sort of backup as even the best drives can fail.

A platter drive is really not good now unless you need some cheap large data storage. For anything 1tb or less, an SSD is much more affordable now than they were even 6 months ago. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820147674

Be careful on the WD Blue's, many are not 7200 RPM.

I agree with hang the 9, if you are looking for a good, fast drive a 500 to 1 tb ssd is much more affordable now than they were even a few months ago.
I have 5 SSD's in various PC's now, 4 Crucial MX500 and a Samsung EVO 850.
They all perform at about the same speeds and have the same 5 year warranty.
