Hi, I hope this is the right category. The heart of the matter is that I need an additional internal USB port to run my Corsair RGB lighting strips.
I have a ASUS Strix Z390-E motherboard. The MB comes with two internal USB 2.0 connectors and a USB 3.1 connector. All internal USB ports are in use. The internal USB 3.1 connector splits into two distinct headers, with each one connecting to one of the two 3.0 USB ports on the top of the case. As for the 2 USB 2.0 connectors, one feeds into the Corsair H150 mounting block atop my CPU and the other powers a Corsair Control Center 4 RGB lighting of my Corsair LL Series RGB fans--I have 8 RGB fans connected to my MB. Yeah, I know a lot, but I like the color effect.
I am not sure if the information about where the USB headers goes is useful but I thought I would provide it. I know I could resolve this problem by buying a Corsair Commander Pro Smart RGB Lighting and Fan Speed Controller. This little guy comes with two USB ports among other things. It is $60.00 on Amazon; however, I am sure that there is another way to add another internal USB port to the motherboard, and for a lot less money than the cost of the Corsair Commander Pro, which I don't believe I even need, though it may lead to easier wiring, but that is another issue entirely.
If anyone could point me in the right direction for what type of cable or device that will solve my problem. If the Commander Pro with its 2 USB ports is the best bet than just tell me as much and I will buy it. However, if there is another good option, also let me know. Thanks.
