Hey guys,

I had a very interesting event happen with my PC the other day. About a week ago I was playing a game when all of a sudden my computer restarted. The pc didn't turn off the screen just went black and windows started loading. When it loaded back to the desktop I didn't have any error messages and I check the temps which were all fine. It was getting late so I shut the computer down and went to sleep. The next day I pulled off the side and made sure all the connections were tight and blew some compressed air around the inside. I started it up and didn't have a problem with it until last night.

I was playing the same game When my PC randomly shut off again. This time it would not turn back on. I unplugged the computer waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. When I press the power button the computer turned on for about a second and then shut off, on off on off on off, Repeatedly until I flipped the switch on the power supply off. I ended up pulling everything out making sure it was clean and had no visible damage and then put everything in but had the same problem. I search the Internet and found a forum post on this website of someone who had the same issue and said pulling the battery on their mobo and resetting the ram fixed their issue. I went through the steps and when I powered on the PC it stayed on but I couldn't get any video on my screens. I also noticed that my motherboard debug led's for CPU and ram started alternating flashing. I was sitting next to my computer googling solutions when all of a sudden I I heard a jet engine noise and the computer was vibrating. I reached behind and pulled the cable just as white smoke started coming out the top. I opened up the side and started looking around and didn't see any black marks. I turned the PC on for a split 2nd because I knew it was a fan and notice my video card fan not spinning . I pulled out the card and it wasn't hot at all and there was no burn marks on the motherboard or the slot the card was in but the area around the fans smelt like burnt leather and grandma.

So anybody got any ideas of what's going on? A pretty sure the video cards toast, but I'm at a loss as to what the cause of the problem is.usually when I have an issue it's the PSU but I've never had this kinda wild stuff happen. I'm also too afraid to stick anything else in there and wanted to come ask for other people's opinions before I start swapping parts.

Thanks for your time and I apologize for any spelling mistakes as I'm talking to my phone right now.

Hello sorry about the delayed response.

I finally had a moment to sit down and mess with it. Here is where I'm at.

Cpu seems fine.

I can get it to go to the desktop with one stick of ram.

With 2 sticks sometimes it will say cpu or memory change but will go to the desktop.

With 4 it has the alternating LED issue explained above.

I have switched the ram in each slot so I think it's safe to assume the board is messed up

When powering on the psu fan spins but then stops shortly after. If I press the test fan button it spins as long as press the button. I'm not sure if only spins under certain load or what. I dont have the tools to test voltage.

At this point I'm just gonna replace the board and psu. I'm not very computer literate but would only a bad motherboard cause the video card to fry like that? As of right now I'm just gonna soon the power supply went 4th Reich on my computer in an attempt to take everything with it.
