What do you guys think about this build? Should everything be compatible? Not sure which SSD to use either? Micro center has a similar powerspec build for $899. Should I build or buy?

My use for the system will mostly be business but I may want to do some video editing as well. I might play a game or 2 but that would not be very often.

Last time I built my pc was in 2004.

If your main business is video editing you don't need to spend a lot on a GPU. It would be more beneficial to put some of that money into more memory. This build will easily handle up to 4K video editing and 1080P/60hz gaming on higher settings.

If the price needs to be lowered then swap the CPU to the 2600 and if the price needs to be lowered further then change the memory to 2x8gb @3200mhz.

Thanks guys. So you think I could go with a 600-650w psu and a cheaper video card. You prefer the m.2 storage over the sata as well? What about just buying the powerspec prebuilt?

Memory is too slow on the Powerspec and they usually cut corners on the motherboard & PSU. As for the M.2 (at least the one I posted) the only difference is the connection type as it connect's directly to the motherboard instead of using a SATA connection, if you went with a NVME SSD the speeds would be a bit faster over the other drives. If you go that route I would suggest the Samsung 970 EVO.

Also if your near a Microcenter they price match with Newegg/Amazon and a few others plus you can bundle at least the CPU/MB and save about $30. I do the price match all the time at the Microcenter in Boston. Speaking of which if your unsure about building it and you live in/near Massachusetts I'd be more then happy to help you build it for free.

Thanks Wildcard. I am in Cincinnati and dont think I would have too much of a problem building but might take a bit more of my time then I have to spare currently. I end up researching everything to death.
The powerspec setup uses an ASRock B450 Pro, and the same Ryzen 5 2600x. That 3200 memory requires overclocking correct?

Few more questions.

So with the ddr4-3200 since it says OC next to it in the board specs what all do I have to do to get that speed out of it? Do I have to adjust OC setting on the board or does it do it automatically. Will it be worth it if I dont game much? It is the same price as the gskill 2666 though.

Also when running an ssd should I partition the drive like I use to do with my HDD. Whats the best practice for that now?

Well the motherboard will support higher speeds by enabling XMP however this is only if the memory is spec'd for that higher speed. If not you'll need to manually overclock the memory which can be time consuming and may not get the desired speed. The higher speed would help with editing but TBH I don't know how much compared to that 2666.

"Also when running an ssd should I partition the drive like I use to do with my HDD."

^Not really sure what you mean by this.
