Solution
As expected... (cute charts you listed, to bad they contain almost no info. One CPU per chart and no link as to where they came from?)

Hotshot, This is something you'll need to decide for yourself. The other guy is trying to confuse you by saying you can OC the AMD or there is a big difference between the 8150 and the 8350. In thermal/power draw or CPU tasks I agree. But gaming isn't one of them. Lets look at the 8350 review.

It depends on what you expect three years from now. If you want to run every game on maximum or super high settings, than probably not (especially with a new wave of more powerful consoles coming in). But if you're happy playing on medium settings, you'll be fine for at least 3 years. My desktop (late 2010 hardware) can still run every game out there on high settings in 2013. Plus, you can always upgrade the video card at some point in the future.

Thanks for the reply, I would be crossfiring somewhere in 2015. What do you say?

a 6350/8350 vishera will outperform this locked i5 hardcore at stock, and especially with a decent overclock.

All of them. Regardless what anyone here says, a locked 3470 will lose to a vishera fx everytime... Badly, and the 8350 would be really nice for video editing/1080p streaming and really any general multi-tasking. i5-3570k trade blows with the vishera at equal clocks, there is absolutely no way a 3470 can get near the vishera, even if the vishera is at stock, much less at 4.5, which can be got for nothing. The only real problem with the fx cpus is the bottlenecks on crossfire setups. With 1 card though, it trades blows with the 3570k.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1333027/amd-fx-8350-vs-i5-3570k-delidded-single-gpu-and-crossfire-gpu That looks into the crossfire comparisons, and even with the crossfire bottleneck it holds its own. Generally as it stands now, the 8350 is cheaper; has a much better multi-tasking capability; and in gaming it beats the 3570k or breaks even. Not to mention game engines in the future are only going to support even more cores. Once steamroller comes out, GG as haswell doesn't look good for high-end desktops. For tablets/laptops though... NOM NOM.

GL on your build, whatever you finally decide on,

-Prax, :hello:

I am not sure, you would have to find a smart person to tell you exactly why the fx cores can't handle crossfire 7970. All I can say is its just not as good at this compared to the 3570k.

In gaming either would be fine. Go with your wallet to be honest. Instead of focusing on the cpu I would prefer it that you focus on that monitor. Get a 23 inch monitor nice brand. Makes a HUGE difference.

Your AMD build won't support crossfire ideally in the future. x16 and x4 pcie slot. Look for double x16 or x8 and x8.

Since you also mentioned dual cards. Bigger PSU especially if you are open to oc'ing. 750 watt is my suggestion. 80+ bronze. Don't want to have to upgrade down the road and have a PSU sitting around.

Your current intel build has a $40 wiggle room. I'd use that cash on a bigger monitor and better psu. Cheers.

Ya the motherboard is kind of important. You need to find something more like

The newegg reviews on that board isn't as good as the ASRock but way better than those gigabyte boards. If you have to chose between GIG/MSI, go with that MSI.
