CPU: I5-4670k(Plan to OC 4670k to around 4.2 or 4.4 if it lets me)
CPU cooling: cooler master 212 hyper evo
Motherboard: Maximus VI Hero
RAM: G.SKILl Ripjaws 2x4G 1600MHZ
SS Intel 530 180GB
GPU: GTX 780(Do not plan to SLI)
Case: Define R4 with Window

Looking for reliability and most importantly, QUIET!

doesn't HAVE to be fully modular, but at least semi-modular if the price is good.

Thank you!

Would that 550w on the GTX 780 be fine if he wants to overclock the CPU?

According to MSI the minimum requirement is a 600w on a basic system with a GTX 780.

If true then I would recommend looking at 650 or 700w just to ensure stable voltages with overclocking.

Whenever a VGA manufacturer makes a recommendation, there's a good chance you can run the hardware on a very low quality PSU that is rated for that output. So OP would probably be fine with any old Apevia or Kingwin 600w unit, but why buy two pounds of hamburger when you could have a pound of steak? The Capstone is a very high quality unit, and his whole setup, overclocked all the way, won't even pull 450w DC.

OP could run 2x 780 on a good 650w unit, 750w for overclocking, but he's not going to SLI.

Oh ok. Thanks for the info

They are also pretty expensive too. It's trying to find a compromise between performance and price that one has to find to get the most out of their $.

Here is a list of 500w or greater that I'd buy from Newegg. There is Seasonic, Antec, XFX, Fractal, Corsair, & PCP&C. They are all 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, so I would pick one that meets your needs, preferably one around 550w or better.

Yep already got that from research. Its a desktop so i dont really care for power savings~plus i can just disable hibernation and sleep mode, or disable C state in bios, right?

other than that, this should be a good unit and enough juice for any single card system right? 290, 290x, 780 ti, 780 etc.
