as the title read, I want to buy USB HUB, reliable but affordable. not too expensive. for the cable and USB 3.0 HUB. I'm not sure at what price I will get a decent quality USB HUB. I can get by with 3 USB ports. but if I can have 5 ports is better

I want to buy a laptop, but the laptop I want only have 1 micro USB port and 1 USB 3.0 port on keyboard.

here is the laptop I want to buy

Acer Aspire Switch 11 (SW5-173)[Detail] Intel Core M-5Y10c, RAM 4GB, SSD 60GB + HDD 500GB, VGA Intel, 11.6" Touch, BT ,Win 10 Rp 9,500,000

I already own desktop for gaming and moderate-heavy workload so I'm not sure that I need a powerhouse laptop

so I can't bring the usb HUB on the go? if I need one, I need to find a power outlet first right?

I had tried plugging a YSB powered laptop cooler (plate wityh 2 fans) and the two fans drew more amps than the USB port can handle and killed that port on my laptop ... USB 3 pulls 0.9 amp (USB 2 draws 0.5 amps).

I have to say, I have never plugged a USB device in while "on the go". When away on business or traveling, the "laptop" was on my lap and there was no place to put any attached devices. When in an office, hotel room or whatever, I grab a desk and plug in what's needed.

How many and what devices do you need plugged in "on the go"

Logitech Mk 270r (Unifying receiver)
16 GB flash drive 3.0
External Hardisk 320 Gb

all at the same time. and the laptop only has one usb ports

Interesting, can't say I have ever used two external devices before. When going on a trip, I typically load all my files into a "travel" or briefcase folder" on the SSHD. If I had two externals, I would just use one at a time. But I guess you are restricted storage capacity with that tablet.

The Switch 11 is described as a "tablet with attachable keyboard" ... and that attachable KB is what contains your USB port. So while I understand the mouse, I wonder if losing the 2nd KB is a better alternative that a risky unpowered hub ... and by all means, never power a laptop cooler thru an unpowered port.

well, the unifying receiver will control both mouse and keyboard, so it only use one ports instead of two ports. well maybe I should just remove the mouse and keyboard when I want to plug flash disk or external hard disk. so I might just use the touch screen or touch pad when I plug any USB device
