Need recommendation to build a new PC

Hi,

I am planning to buy a new PC in coming weeks. I checked with few HW vendors over here to get an idea about the system configuration that fit my needs, but I got totally confused.

My requirement is to have a high end PC for my learning purpose. Below configuration I feel is good to fulfill my needs

CPU Power: ~3GHz
RAM: 4 - 6 GB
HDD: 250GB would be fine

Now please help me to get the exact component details, like CPU type (Dual / Quad core) & suitable motherboard. My budget is between 600 to $700.

and you don't need 3ghz, even 2.5ghz processor's do well these days.

yeah you need to be more speicifc on what you want to ue it for? because for basic learning applications you will only need a cheap system

The E8500 isn't a very good option anymore - Core i7 rocks the E8500 - especially if you overclock. However if you were on a very stringent budget (like $300) then the Intel E5200 is worth a consideration. If your budget was ~ $500 - 600 I would suggest the phenom II 940 BE. The core i7 is however the most powerful CPU solution today, you could mildly overclock the 920 to 3.3 Ghz easily and have a faster CPU than the $1000 965 model - not bad eh?
