Need recommendations on new system

Hey guys, recently, lighting killed my old system..

The insurance paid out totalling 1240 USD ( I live in South Africa, so I converted the currency)

So the situation I'm in is, to me, an extremely difficult one, I need to make use of this ( sad, but unique) opportunity to future proof my new system as much as humanely possible!

I was shooting at a 980ti, atleast 16GB ram, and perhaps ( maybe?) an i7 CPU, the CPU being an i7, I know that I has next to no gain in gaming, and as such I can easily let that pipe dream go in favour of the gfx card...

So, I would like to challenge thee to help me perhaps get my hands on the best gaming rig I can afford with my budget, keeping in mind that I am absolutely wanting that 980ti in my system!

Luckily, I HAVE :
An (older) i5-4460 CPU at hand,
As well as a kit of 16GB 1866Mhz ram,
As well as a decent leadex superflower 750W 80 gold PSU

The problem? The Dollar to ZAR exchange rate is totally bezerk at the moment, In my. Country's currency, I have (ZAR 20156) to spend on the system.

So I already have some components, given they aren't the best, help me out to build this system please!

( I do think the CPU has to be updated, but the DDR3 ram and psu will still go easily I think)

This may seem like an extremely stupid problem to post on here, but I can't seem to decide what I need to do :(

I might as well extend the essay a little longer to explain my take on why I want the 980ti, I'll be mostly sticking to 1440p resolution when it comes to gaming, but I fear that 4GB of vram ( in the 980) may get too little too fast, which is why I feel like, when investing that much for the gfx, I might as well try to push for the 6GB vram, ensuring I have the needed amount for the foreseeable future, the speed of the gfx is basically overkill, which is where a 980 would be totally fine, but that lingering fear of having too little vram is holding me back a lot ( for example, I heard gta5 takes a hefty 5GB vram, given its probably cuz 4k res, it's still a sign perhaps?!)

Edit :

I already have a chassis for the pc.
I also don't need the price of an OS included in the price.

Forgot to say THANKS in advance ^.^

Edit 2 : Forgot to mention that I also have :

A Samsung Evo ssd and hdd's, the things I have mentioned that I already have is the parts that came out unscathed from the lightning strike, surprised to see so many parts still in working condition!

Ok, you may have to reuse some of your components there to get your 980ti.

Your local currency is what's relevant, the USD equivalent doesn't really matter since you won't be paying in USD.

Using: http://www.computersonly.co.za/ as a reference for prices in South Africa..... reusing most of the available components, it would be close.

I'd suggest:
CPU: i5-4690k - 3,999SAR
CPU Cooler: Can't seem to find listings?
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming5 - 2,799SAR
RAM: Reuse the 16GB DDR3 1866MHz you have
SSD: Crucial BX100 256GB - 1,599SAR
HDD: I assume/hope you have one
GPU: 980ti - 13,700SAR
PSU: Reuse the Leadex SuperFlower 750W
Case: You've already picked. Not sure if you need to factor it into the budget?
OS: Not included in price

That...

That puts you at 22,100SAR + a cooler (to push an OC out of it) + an HDD

There would be no harm in reusing the i5-4460 though, it shouldn't bottleneck the 980ti. If you want to reuse to 4460 you could drop the motherboard to an H97 as save some extra there.

There's an "Upgrade Kit" on the site too ('PC Components section), which doesn't look bad at all.
i5-6600k
Gamma CPU cooler
MSI Z170M-MORTAR
2x4GB DDR4 2400MHz
240GB OCZ SSD
Total: 8,999SAR

That puts you on Skylake, new DDR4 and a CPU cooler to OC.
Pair that with your existing PSU and a 980ti you're coming out at 22,700SAR....but on the latest setup, the newest 'top tier' i5 and your TI. Probably a better investment that putting together a Haswell build.

I'm not sure how to reply to your post, so I hope it's fine to do it here...

No, the chassis is already bought so we don't need to factor it into the price, I really like your idea of going to the skylake option, and I'm sure I can muster the 2000 price difference, when shopping around, I'm sure I could perhaps find a little bit better deal on the gfx card as well, my greatest grievance with your Skylake option is the 8GB ram...

I know that I need no more than 8GB tbh. But I really like having the extra headroom to multitasking like crazy ( as I do tend to do sometimes) but I suppose I could also just upgrade the ram at a later stage, so going skylake in exchange for 8GB temporarily, Id have to go with that..

Just need to verify the motherboard? Anyone used it before or have it? Is it any good?

You hit the nail on the head - 8GB should be enough, but it's an easy upgrade if/when needed or budget allows.

Absolutely, you'll know where to shop better than I do, I just found that one & used it as a general idea of prices in SA - figured there would be more competition around Joburg & the prices would be a rough estimate.

As far as that specific motherboard, I'm not sure. MSI make some good motherboards though, and have a pretty good return policy/warranty, so that's why I opted to include it in the Haswell build, and it's just what's included in the Skylake bundle. I'm usually cautious regarding 'bundles', but that one looks pretty decent all-in-all.
