Info dump is below. I need a PCI video card that works with W2K as a second video card. Other than that price is the first issue. No games, 2d graphics and office apps only.

(I'd be happy with a link to a good search engine that'll let me select by interface/port/whateveryoucallit, OS, and whether or not it has drivers for use as secondary card, but something tells me there's no such thing)

GF 6200LE or a Radeon X1300. Basicaly the fastest and newest PCI cards in production. They may cost you a meal at Pizza Hut (add the breadsticks and large sodas).

Lol, the 6200 was what I was looking at too. Now I'm confused though - isn't the 6200 a dual monitor card? Shouldn't I be able to find a single-output card for less money but otherwise similar features?

Also, is the 6200 available in PCI or just PCI Express or AGP? I'm correct that PCI Express is not compatible with PCI?

I think your pretty much stuck between your exhisting Radeon 9700 and the X1300 or 6200 for PCI. ATI and nVidia have drivers for Win2K that comply with these cards. You can't find a card now that doesn't have two outputs, unless S3 makes one.

You said it's just for spreadsheets? Must be planning on watching some movies when the boss leaves... gotcha-ya

Well, no biggie, since the cards are under 40 bucks. My question now is if they're available in PCI? My board has no PCI Express slots.
They make 6200's in all 3 flavors. PCI, PCI-E, and AGP.
Here's a good reference page for you.
That's what I need to know, thanks for the help.

Hehehe, no it's for my home PC. I pretty much just need it for graphics apps, so I can throw all the palettes and stuff onto the second monitor and keep the canvas on the first. I just ordered a Wacom and I figured I should add a second monitor while I'm at it.

Why in hell did they name it PCI Express? No one but supreme eggheads really cares what the letters stand for. To us shmucks it almost seems like they deliberately chose the name to sow confusion.

I certainly can't tease any 6200 PCI results out of pricewatch without getting all PCI Express results.

(yep, I checked Nvidia's website and AFAICT none of the GF 6 series have PCI interfaces)

Lol! Now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the old boxes I have in storage has one (they might all have onboard video though).

C'est la vie! :)
I ordered an 11 dollar PCI card (ATI Rage XL 8MB) yesterday, hopefully that'll work.

Around here you can find these suckers for free. Most people have one, leftovers from upgrades, and can't get rid of them, not even giving them away.
Were you in Brazil I'd give you one (I must have at least 5 PCI cards, even 3D cards).
