I have never built a gaming pc before, and my budget is around $400. I just want to play League of Legends on max settings and a few other games like Diablo etc on whatever settings I can. I'm not looking to play games like Battlefield or anything crazy like that. 😛

I put together this list (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/24FYQ), but it's over what I can afford to spend on this and I'm wondering if someone can compose me a list with the best possible parts that would get me up and playing League. Thanks. =)

Solution
I would definitely go for your original build with the cx430 PSU. this is your best bet. It will easily play the games you want and even be able to play more intense games at medium settings.

No, Ubuntu is HORRIBLE for gaming. Only like 1/4 games has out of the box support for it. You will also need to get creative with GPU drivers. Ubuntu is NOT a good choice for a gaming computer.

That PSu is awful and will likely ruin your entire computer. Change it to Antec, XFX, Corsair, Seaosnic.

Oh I see. I'll stick with Windows then.

All right I will do that. Bare with me, I'm brand new to all this and I'm trying the best I can. Thanks for the answer, I'll switch it now.

Okay sounds great, thanks for the replies. =)

While the i3 is better in some games (games that only use 2 cores) the 750k is better in games where 4 cores are really needed such as WoW or BF4.

There is nothing wrong with the 750k. VERY good budget gaming CPU.

Not arguing with that . He deffinately said he didnt want to play em.
And a psu like a cx430 is better suited long term to a power efficient cpu.

Here's what i suggest. You can even play battlefield 3 at medium settings. No need for gpu. The apu series has strongest inbuilt (integrated graphics) which is equilant to 6670. So go for this build. And for windows 7, download some kind of torrent, and make a bootable pendrive through it.

Ahhh thanks for that build!

We do not support pirating ANYTHING in this forum.

This will perform NO WHERE CLOSE to the 750k +7790 build.

the cx430 is actually made by seasonic, has a 12v rail big enough for almost ANY single graphics card (do check tho) and is I believe a tier 1 piece of equipment by tom's standards. Its impossible to gain anything by buying cheaper than this item. It is guarenteed not to damage your pc when it eventually fails. Anything less is a fools errand.

Oh I know, I'm just being nice and thanking him for his time. 😛

That's what I'm going to do then. I appreciate all your time and wish me luck assembling this thing. haha

forget onboard gpu. forget power hungry amd chips if you want a light games build to last. use an i3(55 watts), and you have an upgrade path with the same power supply via a 3350p quad. (no onboard graphics, 80 odd watts)) most amd quads use 125 watts.
The intel system will last so long you will hand it down. You wont even need to buy a seperate cooler. The other system is a toy.

for graphics cards evga do some decent inexpensive ones , ive got the GeForce GTX650 2GB superclocked for 80 pounds theres also some cheaper ones on their site like the GeForce GT 610 2GB which is 42 euros(bout 30 pound)
