hello!

my stock fan is annoyin the hell out of me. im not overclocking, but i will later. i need a silent fan! that is the most important to me. if i can get a silent fan thats efficient enough for normal clock for 20 bux or so, then ill grab that. if i cant, the ill spend up to 50-70 bux for an overall good quality + REALLY SILENT fan! silence, again i emphasize, is the most important thing to me. i do wanna overclock in the future, so spending bux on a cpu fan is alright with me.

so far ive started my research on these two...
the Zalman CNPS 8000 & 8700

please! i hate this horrrrrrrible noise....
THANKS!

Thermaltake Ultra 120, Thermaltake Ultra 120 Extreme or Thermaltake Tuniq are all execellent coolers for silent overclocked systems but they cost a bit and you'll still need to purchase separate fans.

I doubt you can buy a decent WC setup for $70. That is his max budget after all.

I forgot to ask you what your setup is. List all your specs, then what you want to OC to later on. This way, I know what you probably need and don't need.

The cheapest method is to go to your local store and grab a fan controller (less than $10 (or 5quid)). Connect the stock fan to the fan controller and decrease the speed to reduce noise. However, you must be wary of overheating the cpu.

TRUE's with an S-Flex or Noctua fan are quiet and work great, but pricy. I think a Xigmatek S1283 with an S-Flex fan would work well. After all, nothing says you must use the the original fan that came with the HSF.

EDIT: An ACF7 will work nicely for a moderate OC. If you have a G0 Q6600, you should be able to reach 3.2 - 3.3 GHz. Anything higher will take better (and more expensive) cooling.

wow thanks for all your suggestions! ill definitely read into all of those.

ah, lets see...
i have q6600
8800gt
4gb ram gold ocz 800

i only plan to oc 3ghz to be safe. right now 2.4 is sufficent for me. i havnt oced yet. i plan to learn first... haha.

watercooling crossed my mind but since i only care about silence, it isnt worth the money right now.

infact, i do have a 3.5" slot fan controller x4, it does help control the temp. but id also like to let you know that i prefer silence over quality as well. i understand u didnt know enough about what i wanted though.

thanks so much for all your suggestions again.

SOOOOOOOO to put it basically....
i wanna get silent fan that will handle my CPU at 3.0ghz
so far the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 seems most appealing to me.

another lil added bonus that id like would be BLUE LEDs.

i also understand that there are CPU coolers that let you put your own fan on it. what if i got one of those and put one of my own silent blue LED fans on it? efficient? let me know!

thanks!

Get TRUE heatsink and Scythe SFF21F 63 CFM S-FLEX 120mm Fan
The fan is extremely silent at full speed because of (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) Not ball bearing and has 150,000hrs. lifetime
Having Q6600 without OC is waste of money ;)

so i dropped by the local computer store, basically they recommended scythe katana II. they had good reasoning, being the price, quality, and since i want to overclock later, it has a fan changing feature so that i can get better cooling. so what do u guys think?
