I have one cable modem with one Ethernet socket - I have a newer tech. router & an older tech. router - my laptop farthest from the modem/routers location works best with the older router & the closest laptop works best with the newer router - how can I keep both routers connected simultaneously with their separate networks maintained? Can I just 'daisy-chain' by attaching the older router to the newer one with an Ethernet cable from the older router's WAN port to a LAN port on the newer router? NOTE: both routers are typical home-use routers - nothing expensive.

Solution
Yes if you want to maintain 2 separate networks you can just plug modem to WAN port of one router and connect those 2 routers LAN-WAN. It should recognize and route internet traffic normally and it should keep your networks as they are now (pc in one network wont see pc in other).
