[SOLVED] Need solution for wireless card on gaming PC. No access to PCIE slot.

My son built desktop PC for gaming about 2 years ago. Has been plugged in to ethernet cable up until now. Going away to school soon, only wifi in dorm. We went to install wireless card today but the access to the PCIE port it is supposed to plug into is blocked by the fan on his video card.
There is a PCI port below that is accessible. What options do we have to install a wireless card? Is there one that will plug into the PCI port or an externnal option? Is there some type of adaptor that will allow it to be used in the PCI port instead of the PCIE port?
I am not very tech savvy but can read and follow advice/instructions.

You will want to avoid the very small 'nano' adapters - they are universally terrible, mostly because there isn't room for decent antennas in them.

Just don't get one of the tiny nano things. Get something with an actual antenna.
