Wall of text incoming, thank you for those of you who stick with it
Hi guys!
I do a wide variety of things with my computer that are all quite taxing in different ways and my last build stood up well but I didn't ask for much advice when I built it and would like some opinions on my selections from you guys to see if I can do any better!
Here's what I do with my system in order of relevance and importance in this build:
1. Heavy multi-box gaming in MMOs. (Large amounts of clients active at once, as many as 15 in some cases (don't judge me 😛)
2. HD video editing and rendering
3. 3d modelling and rendering
4. Sound design and music production
I sometimes also do virtualization and webdesign using VMware but not so often that I need to build a system around it. Anything that I build for the above should easily handle what I do with respect to virtualization.
Here's my current system:
EVGA x58 SLI-3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 950 @stock
24 Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600Mhz memory
EVGA Gtx 590 Classified
This system when I built it performed well for most purposes but it was a bit lacking when it came to Model and video rendering and editing and it's now showing its age in other areas.
Here is the system I'm looking at putting together:
For the rest of the system I'll reuse what I have already which is
I believe this system will suit my needs and will last quite a while. I built my current system in 2011, and would like this build to last between 4 and 5 years with a graphics card and maybe a ram upgrade down the line.
The biggest issue I have with my current system at the moment is performance in doing other things WHILE multiboxing. Right now I can run my multiboxing setup fine but the computer struggles to do anything else outside of that scope at the same time.
I would like to be able to do what I'm doing in game and have netflix or youtube going on the side or something of the sort without choppy video playback. As it is now I can barely handle opening a browser and googling something and video playback is all but unwatchable.
I believe the main cause of this is the CPU I currently have which is why I opted for the Hex core over something like a 4770k since the essence of what I'm doing here is multitasking as it relates to the CPU.
So that's what I got and my reasoning behind it. If anyone has any alternate suggestions for any of the components I would greatly appreciate any advice and experience you can offer. I'm not planning on buying all of this for a few months.
