Need some advice. I'm confused to be honest.

Hello!

I'm helping my parents decide on whether they should switch to Spectrum or not (I wish they would!). There's something that confuses me about what Spectrum offers as a setup. They mention that the modem is free and that you have to buy a router for wifi. Here's where my confusion lies:

With AT&T, we have a Pace Gateway in our basement. It took me all this time to realize the modem and router are housed within the gateway. Kinda bothers me to be honest. Now, with Spectrum, you get an Arris Gateway with the modem already installed (I'm assuming). Here's my question. Are there Gateways available for cable internet that house both the modem AND the router? Needs to be able to handle the 60Mbps maximum speed that they offer. Trying to save money, if possible, and get around the lack of space we have. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

First, the basement is the single worst place in the house to start the WiFi signal.
That really needs to be central in the house.

Second...for just about any cable connection, there are devices that are modem/router in one box.
Or a modem in one box, and the router in another.
And all of them will have something on their recommended list. Primarily the modem device. After the modem, you can use just about any router you choose.
