Need some assistance with KVM Switch options when using different input/output options

I have a desktop I built myself several years ago using an nvidia geforce gtx 260 card, which has two DVI-I (Dual) outputs. My monitor has both DVI and HDMI options, and I'm using the cable provided with the monitor, which looks like a DVI-D (Single).
I would like to have my work laptop (Not allowed to alter much of anything) connected to this monitor, preferable a KVM situation. If I used it as a dual display instead, it would still be nice to use my keyboard and mouse for either device, but the desk setup does not really lend itself to this. Not sure if there are recommendation for just a keyboard/mouse KVM however?

What I was more interested in though was whether I could find a KVM for monitor, keyboard and mouse though, so I could put the laptop to the side (closed lid), and just use the bigger monitor by itself, along with the regular keyboard and mouse. The laptop has VGA and HDMI out, which is where the question lies. I have seen several KVM reviews online where the use of adapters (DVI to HDMI, DVI to VGA...) can cause issues. I have also not seen many affordable KVMs where you can mix and match between VGA, VDI and HDMI. It would seem to make most sense to get a cheap VDI to HDMI adapter, and then just use an HDMI KVM, but I want to avoid issues with possible adapter use. Just curious if anybody has any thoughts.

As far as the keyboard and mouse, I'm using a fairly regular Microsoft optical mouse (3000) and a Logitech illuminating keyboard, which both use USB.

I have 2 PCs, a windows 10 and vista. I use a kvm switch for them (I only use vista for old games that don't run on win10).

I have my keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers plugged into the kvm switch, the switch then has 2 cables which each split into audio, vga and USB.

I got mine from Staples.

If you get one, get one with an actual button to switch, mine uses scroll lock to switch and double tapping control to change switch hotkey which is extremley inconvenient.

IMO, go with a simple kvm switch and get cable adapters if needed, just make sure you get a kvm switch with a physical switch .

That seems to be a VGA KVM however, which is analog while both DVI and HDMI are digital. I wanted to see if anybody has advice for a solution to make sure both of those can work together and/or with adapters or cables to convert from HDMI to DVI or vice-versa; to not lose too much video quality.
