OK, I've got alot of DIY PC experience but this is my first Core2 build, and I'm lost.

Here's what I got:

ThermalTake Armor Jr.
EVGA NF68 Mainboard
E6600 w/Intel Retail Heatsink/Fan
XFX 8800 GTS
2GB Corsair XMS2-PC6400

I put it all together and although it WORKS fine, no problems...my CPU idles at 60C, in Windows XP according to NVIDIA Monitor. In BIOS, it reads idling at 40C, but thats in the bios screen, no load at all.

My 8800GTS Idles at about 69C, and goes up to 81C while playing WOW.

Dunno, it all sounds too hot to me, LOL. Ive read through the forums here and can't figure out what I have going wrong here.

I DID remove the stock Intel heatsink to make sure it was seated properly, and it was. I cleaned it off and reapllied some artic silver....no difference.

One last thing, I did install the 'optional' nvidia north bridge fan which seems to just blow hot air at the video card. I'm gonna try removing it while awaiting your expert advice. :) (brown-nosing for bonus points)

Thanks in advance.

I too am trying to find out the best solution (air cooled) before I build the rig.

Dunno, I'm at a loss. I had the TT Tsunami case with my Athlon64x2 4800+ (socket 939) with the same video card and things were much cooler. Only reason I switched to the Armor Jr was for the sideways mounted hard drives. The 8800 GTS FIT in the Tsunami but blocked a hard drive cage, and if I went SLI would block two. The two cases are VERY similar in size and specs, and fan layout. I can't see where it's a case problem.
