Maybe you should concider the 7th gen i7 because it isn't that much more expensive than 6th gen i7 + the new board (Z270 chipset). It has some new features which might come handy in a few years or maybe even sooner.

I think it looks pretty solid for what you are wanting to use it for. The only thing I can think of to consider is to take a peek at the EVGA SuperNova G2...it is a tier above the NEX...but the NEX will suit just fine as well.
 
You could get a Kaby Lake for around the same price. As a guide...
