Just got my brothers Gateway FX6800-01E, as far as i can tell its all stock. I am a complete newbie to gaming computers and understand the unit had its faults. Been scouring Google, looking to see what parts should be replaced to bring the tower up to date with current gaming demands. My ultimate goal is to be able to play Escape From Tarkov. If anyone has any experience with this unit, any advice for compatible MB's, GFX cards, anything thats outdated. Im sure the X58 chipset running Vista will need to go(highly doubt it can handle Windows 10). Thanks in advance on all advice!

it can handle windows 10.
that is a standard mATX case and is the only real requirement for the mobo.
what is your budget for the upgrades.
I suggest new CPU, mobo, RAM, PSU and GFX. knowing the budget will help with suggestions, what can be bought and what must wait.

Welcome to the forums.

Better write all your spec. here. You should check what parts you have inside case, and what info you can get by software. Don't spend a lot of money for upgrades, cause it old system, but still good for budget gaming, especialy if you have i7 in it, and have a chance to overclock.

Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, ATI Radeon HD 4850 w/512MB discrete memory, I7-920 quad core, 3GB DDR3 @1066MHz, 750GB HDD.

My budget is looking pretty open as I make a decent amount towing. Wanting to make it somewhat mid to high tier level, but not wanting to go off the rictor scale with a Nvidia 20 series that i could have a whole PC built for the same price lol

Thank you very much man, i havent had a PC in years, and even then they only "gaming" i could do was solitaire!

Do i need to worry about wires to connect everything? Or should the components have what i need with them?
