Hey everyone,

I built my PC about a year ago and have had no issues until recently. About a month ago I started having issues with big screen tears that made it impossible to see about half of the screen. I found that reinstalling my graphics drivers and rebooting was a temporary fix, but it would require me to do this periodically for no apparent reason. Every few days whether I shut it off or put it to sleep it would be turned off and need to have drivers reinstalled. Finally, I went to turn it on and got the dreadful 1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps for no vga detected. I tried switching slots in my mobo but it did not work. The onboard graphics work fine.

I am wondering if I need to replace the graphics card, or hopefully if something can be done about it on the software end.

Specs:
Asus Z97a
Geforce GTX 970
intel i7-4790k
crucial ballistix RAM 2x8gb

Thanks to everyone for helping out!
