This is my setup:

-Artic Cooler 7 HSF
-AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
-MSI 870A G54
-G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Core i5 1.5V
-XFX Radeon 5770

I had to buy the motherboard again cause I think I fried the VRMs during a "Blend" test in prime95 (was using 19x203 1.45v for the cpu and 8-8-8-24 1.63v for the ram

I've set it to 18.5x with stock voltage, I've run prime 95 (small FFTs) for 4 hours without any errors

After the test was done I noticed my ram was being read as 1333 so i now I've set it to the correct stock settings of 1600 9-9-9-24 (didn't change voltage) and I want to test it again in prime 95 on "Blend"

Is there anything I should be careful about so I don't fry my new mobo?

Should I try changing any settings before I run this new test?

Should I try to up any settings?

How long should a "stability" test be run for?

I'd really like to stay with stock voltage for the cpu and ram (I think that's what fried my last board)

Thank you

As long as you're staying under the max AMD specified safe voltage and temperature (mainly temperature) then you'll be perfectly safe to nudge the CPU voltage up a tad.

If you're wanting to keep it at stock keep notching up that CPU multiplier until you aren't stable.

Remember, reboots, bluescreens, and lack of stability won't hurt your motherboard. (restarts can hurt your hard drive a tad if you are using it during the restart, assuming you aren't using a SSD)

I usually run the Prime95 for about 15 minutes while I'm adjusting settings. Then I'll run it for a few hours once I get a setting I'm happy with to be sure I'm completely stable.

Yes some people run it for 24 hours, however I haven't ran into stability issues after using my 3 hour (or so) rule.

Most of these motherboards these days are made to overclock. If something like that fries I'd say it is a defect if you aren't doing extreme clocks.

I couldn't tell ya, but if someone said so then it is probably true.
