Well title pretty much says it all but I'm looking to build a gaming rig for $1000 and needed some help picking out the rest of the pieces.

What I had in mind so far,

Mobo: ASRock Z77 Pro3: LGA 1155, Intel Z77 Express
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
GPU: EVGA 02G-P4-2670-KR GeForce GTX 670
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile

I live in the US and usually order my pieces from Newegg.
I still need an optical drive, ssd (if possible just for OS and a few games), hdd (I can use my old one if needed), case, psu.

I'm completely open to any options including changing what I've picked but I rather have intel as well as nvidia. If I can get better performance out an Amd GPU for the price of the 670 then I'm more than welcome to give AMD a try for the first time.

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Mobo: If you're going to overclock, change the mobo to an ASRock Z77 Extreme4,it overclocks better.

RAM:Try the Corsair Vengeance series, they're usually cheaper.

DVD Drive:Any drive from Sony,Lite-on,Samsung,Asus will be enough.Get the cheapest one.

HDD:Try the Seagate Barracuda.

SSD:If you need performance: Samsung 840 Pro
If you want peace of mind:Crucial m4

If you have a microcenter near you, you should really go there and check out the i5 3570k+asrock extreme 4 for around $290 if not, i would make this build.

-cheaper motherboard, but just as good
-Cheaper psu, plenty of watts for upgrades, semi-modular as well
-The 7950 will provide great bang/buck. It's a really good, and cheap, 7950 that can compete wit the gtx670.

If I choose to stick with the 670 will that PSU be enough?

CX series is "OK" for now. It is one of the brands i trust but the PSU itself, i don't really like at all. I usually have them for lower end budget builds with the 400-500W being around $30 but i suggest getting a better PSU if you want to SLI the 670

Actually, if you're planning to just run a single gtx670 (and don't plan to SLI) grab the 500w version instead. It'll be cheaper and still have headroom for overclocking since nvidia cards don't take up as much watts as amd cards.
CX isn't a great psu, I know. I never recommended them before, but then the xfx psu was raising in price while the cx stayed cheap. Even though the quality isn't that great, you can't ask for much from the price.
