Need some help picking some parts (mainly processor-motherboard combo)

Long story short I need a motherboard , processor , power supply and a case since I will leave those to my brother.

The processor I would like it to be a ryzen at around 300$-450$ and a fitting motherboard that would run Fortnite at around 120+ fps with some settings like shadows off.(in pair with the gtx 970)
A friend of mine has 100+ fps(stable) with a i5 4440 and an Asus AMD R9 280x with these settings: https://gyazo.com/b6311282137adf71882eaae6c53b57c2

The case and power supply nothing too fancy. Besides the processor the other parts should be more on the budget side.

Also you could suggest some better RAM and maybe I'll replace them.

What would be your budget for the whole system? That'd help with choosing parts. I've made a tentative part list with the info you posted (including Fortnite settings), but it most probably needs some refining.

Since you're planning on getting a Ryzen processor, faster memory should help you get higher fps. I tried to go with budget parts, but I would still recommend you go through everything, and make sure you're happy with it.

This actually looks really nice but could you give me more reasons why I should get that motherboard over others or what advantage would I get if I buy a better one?

The motherboard I chose is a cheap B450 motherboard. These motherboards support 2nd gen Ryzen CPUs without needing a BIOS update.

Other motherboards may offer different features, but generally, higher priced motherboards offer stuff like more M.2 slots, or onboard Wi-Fi. It depends a lot on the specific motherboard model you're looking at. The motherboard size also changes, with bigger motherboards offering more M.2 and PCIe slots, more SATA ports, more fan headers...

This one is pretty decent for non-OC gaming on budget systems, which is why I chose it. Of course, if you have any ideas in mind for what you want in your mobo, I can try to find a model that has it.

Since you picked a K processor will i be able to OC it with that mb?

There is no K in the Ryzen lineup. All Ryzen processors are unlocked, which means all of them can be easily overclocked. However, if you're going to overclock your CPU, I'd reccomend getting a beefier PSU and an aftermarket CPU cooler as well.

The board I picked also supports overclocking. However, if you are a serious overclocker, a board with an X470 chipset might be a better choice. These are generally more expensive though.
