need some help with a build

Okay so i built my system and i was wondering can i leave the side panel off? i didn't put the last panel on and i don't see the point in doing so really. So right now the side is visible with the motherboard and components. is their any downside to doing this in the long run? any help is appreciated.

yes it expose them to dust static electricy and spils its really a good idea to leave it on

It can also negatively impact airflow through the case. If you don't have any overheating issues then it is OK in that regard.
