Over a year ago I built a gaming pc for around €900 with a Rx 5700 dd ultra 8gb as a graphics card but I’m really not getting the FPS I whould like to ge. I play on a 144hz monitor and I’m getting about a 100fps in minecraft Fortnite and pubg and I really want to upgrade to a graphics card that can get at least 144 stable FPS in these games but do I need to upgrade other things in my pc before I can do that? And what whould be a good graphics card to pick? The only thing I know at this moment is that I have a weak power supply and that it needs an upgrade but I don’t know how big of an upgrade it would need. My budget lays around €500 and I can go a little bit higher if necessary. I’m not very good with pc’s so don’t use to hard terms please and sorry for my bad English.

Full part list:
Processor: AMD ryzen 5 2600x wraith boxed
Graphics card: xfx radeon Rx 5700 DD ultra 8gb gddr6
Motherboard: Asrock b450m pro4
Case: cooler master N400 (without odd)
Power supply: cooler master mwe 450w bronze
32gb of ram
256gb of ssd and 2tb of Hdd.

The current system you have is decent,
What monitor are you currently using, 1080p @ 144hz, or a 1440p at 144hz
Free-sync on your monitor might be affecting your FPS,

The RX 5700 is a decent graphics card, for an upgrade thats difficult, id wait for 3mths as the prices are going to change with the releases of the 3090, 3080 and 3070, so youll get a better bargin.

For the PSU, get at least a 750w, something like the corsair RM750x or the RM850x,
The new graphics cards 3090.3080.3070 advise that it will need a 750w minimum power supply, so its worth investing now so that maybe in a couple years you will upgrade to one of those in the future and have the system to just pop it in.

You will also be able to upgrade your CPU as well in the...

My monitor is 1080p 144hz but i do have an second monitor, this one is 4k and 60hz but i mainly use this for watching youtube and having my discord of spotify opened i only bought it 4k becouse i thought it would be nice but i dont really use it,
My 144hz monitor is called the MSI optix mag271c and i honestly have no idea what freesync is the only thing i know is that i have vsync off in my in game settings but i dont know if that's the same thing.
Also my friend just built a new pc with a 1660 oc in it and the same core but he gets 200+ fps in game while his card is 120 euro cheaper then mine is this because his card is newer or is there indeed something wrong in my settings? and could this weak power supply affect my fps?

Your card is a bit more powerful than the 1660ti, so you should be getting the same/similar.

It might be the PSU as AMD reccomend a 650w power supply for the RX 5700 graphics card,
you might be starving it of power so it reduces the FPS to compensate.

yea that could be true since he has an 650w power supply so I think I’m gonna start investing in a 750w power supply.
But how do I know if it fits my motherboard/system?
And also the rm750x that you recommended is really expensive in comparison to others from cooler master who are just €80 does this have a quality difference? because it does have a verification of 80 plus white while the rm750x is 80 plus gold?

Have a look at both of these articles, it will help you make a decision,
I wouldnt worry too much about the Platinum and Titanium, you get very little more for a massive price-up.
80 plus gold is really what you should go for,
All PSUs come with the power cables you need, you have a modern system, so you should be ok,
Youll just have to re-cable your system.

Hope this helps !!

So my case is micro-atx and the PSU is eps/atx, for what I read this means that they will fit each other right? I’m just making sure because I have bought something that didn’t fit my build before so I’m a little bit scared now😁.

you won't get 144fps from 100 fps by changing the PSU. i highly doubt it

the 5700xt is the best AMD card right now, and they are few models that are more powerfull : 2080S, 2080ti, 3070, 3080, 3090, that's about it.
everything else would be more like a sidegrade or downgrade

Also, in order to get 200+FPS in 1080p, you need a faster processor. Right now it's the main selling point of intel (because there is a trend about high refresh rates) because the current line has an edge around this.

Since you already have AMD stuff, i recomment to wait until the new Ryzen 5000 comes out, you will be able to change the cpu after a bios upgrade. simpler and cheaper than buying a new motherboard and cpu on a platform that doesn't support upgrades.

for now, if you change the PSU, get a good 850w unit, because if youre into high refresh speed gaming, you will upgrade your CPU and GPU in the coming months.

I would buy the power supply first, it will protect your current system.
Then save up for the other upgrades.

this

you will need the new PSU before to upgrade any more powerfull parts anyways.

also, 200hz+ gaming is not exactly an inexpensive hobby. but with the 500E budget you mentionned, you can get a good PSU for 150E, and have 350E for a ryzen 5000 CPU. then if you sell your 2600x you will get at least 100E, maybe 150E. save that money and add 50E each month until you can afford a 3080

I just sold my 5700xt for 480$ CAD in local ads. i do that each time, just before a new generation is coming out. it's the same money since like 10 years.
got 2x 290x , 2x Vega 64 , 1x RadeonVII, 1x 5700xt (the 5700xt is same perfs at half the resell price of the radeon VII lol, got same perfs + 450$)
The last time i used new money for a GPU was for the dual 290x , but i change gpu every 1-2 years max

i have an rx480 to do the interim. will buy a rx6000 in a few months.
