Hi, I recently bought a new AMD a8-3870k apu, that is 100 watts. My old APU, an amd a4-3420k, had a wattage of 65. My power supply has a wattage of 180. Is there any way to see how many watts my PC is using now? What would happen if I put in my new apu and the wattage was too low?

Hello,

you can use this wattage calculator to calculate on average how much power your computer consumes. keep in mind your psu is not 100% efficient so it is best to consider you PSU having 20-30% less wattage than advertised. regarding your computer consuming more than your PSU would handle, you will get abnormal activity in your computer such as frequent crashes under load, maybe even at startup, but your PSU might just give up and die.
