I have a few game soundtracks I've extracted from the game folders. I copied them to My Music and put them in another folder with an appropriate label, such as Skyrim OST, Halo OST, and I also have some music that was free off SoundCloud, and stuck it in its relative folder such as DaFuq's Volume 14 - December 2013. However, Windows Media Player just sticks everything under "Unknown Artist, Unknown Album". How can I tell Windows Media Player to actually make sense of the folder names?

Solution
You quite likely cannot. WMP and most other players make use of the ID information in the sound file itself.
Since this is microsoft product, editing said information with WMP is impossible.

Quick google later and first link is:
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

That might not do all what you want and I have not used it but... it allows you to input artist names, track numbers and all other things that WMP uses to organize the music.

Edit: So if that link doesn't feel like your thing, you can search for a way to edit ID tags of music yourself.
Edit2: you can also do most of that in windows explorer, find the file, check it's properties, check details, edit the parts needed
